We gave up logs and concentrated on making kindling. It's still a side line to us but we have made it very efficient. Even so the margins are very tight. The single phase kindlet is fast enough for two people as long as the wood does not jam. Unless you are going to make at least 20,000 bags a year I would just buy it in.

I know it's a bit of a "how longs a a bit of string" question but roughly how many 45x65 kindling nets do you get out of an artic of softwood?

We sell a few thousand bags to customers but always get asked by our wholesale customers to supply kindling too. I've always bought it in but the cheap supply has dried up.

Assuming 6kgs of timber in a net, 26000kgs in an arctic load, then 4333 nets, excluding wastage.

Wastage depends on how good or bad the timber is

Roughly how many days would it take to turn an artic load into 6kg nets, with 2 working at it?

173.3 hours not including loading the finished product. Toilet, coffee, fag breaks 👍🏻 Or £23 per hour but in reality you make £15 an hour until something breaks down then it's less

We were getting around 3000 nets to an artic load.
