That's absolutely bonkers. Our electricity bill here in Sweden is currently running at about £80/month, and that's with us using the AC too.

Guessing you are in the northern part of Sweden as the wholesale price further south is not far behind the UK or is the government subsiding it?

They are. That's partly why we're going to be paying so much.

"Between April and June this year, Shell reported worldwide profits of £9.4bn while BP made £6.9bn, more than triple the amount it made in the same period in 2021."

No, we're in the south, but the house doesn't use much electricity and we're on about 14p/kwh at the moment. It'll go up in winter (it reached about 30p/kwh last winter, but it'll be more than that this year) but our house is extremely well insulated, so hoping that with a woodburner too, it'll not be too expensive to heat.

Have you fact checked these figures?
I saw the exact same map showing completely different values on last week, the UK being considerably higher than the rest of Europe.

Something certainly has to change, it’s a job to see where it’s all heading

not good news for ev drivers though

APPLE.NEWS

Cost of travelling long distances will be much higher under the new price cap

Many owners of ev's have fixed price tariffs so October won't be their Doomsday; it'll be delayed that's all.

And I mean us!

OK it seems its

a spot price that varies day to day. Found the site but not worked out how to get longer term prices yet. Maybe others will have more luck

Yes that is my situation; I am on a fixed price until the end of next year so I have just over a year to put up solar panels to charge my car.  And I can’t afford a fancy array with a feed in to the grid, I am going for about a 3kw off grid array on a garden room with no battery storage, so it should cost less than £4000, diy fitting of course.
