Yeah, probably high reserves and result in hardly any sales. Just like on ebay, if you want an auction then have a proper one. Start low and highest bidder takes it. If you had a price in mind then just do a straight sale. Saving wasting lots of people's time.

Err, no, most auctioned items of any value have a reserve, normally some where between trade and retail price.

 

The current prices on these items are very low, you would get more selling straight to a dealer for resale.

Start at the trade price then. If people knew the minimum price the seller will accept then they can make a more informed decision before placing a bid. Why accept bids of £100 if you will not take less that £500.

 

The current prices 'have not met the reserve' so are meaningless.

Because other people bidding gives people confidence.

 

I started an item on ebay at £500 and did not have a single bid, then relisted with a starting bid of 99p and it sold for £950.

 

"have not met the reserve" is not meaningless, it actually very simple and informative.
