Cant switch off

I cant seem to switch off,even when im not at work im still looking up at trees,looking at how id climb them,where id anchor in,how id get to the end of a limb etc.

Even just tryin to id species im not sure of...

I even jibber away to the wife if were out walking the dog,she rolls here eyes,glazes over and goes into the nodding head and sayin yeah honey symdrome.

Anyone else do this or am i obsessed/mental...?

 

 

Nope you are not alone! But you are slightly obsessed. Same here! - the good thing is it means you can get good at what you do, bad thing is you will most likely exhaust yourself!

 

Try and do things that takes your mind off trees - get your brain thinking in other directions. Give the little grey cells some time off.....!

I think that is the same for most of us, certainly those who have an interest and passion for this line of work. When i started powerline clearance about 20 years ago, my boss at the time said 'your life will never be the same again, you will constantly be looking up at powerlines and trees'. He could not have been more correct.

You are literally describing me! I think you either are or are not the type of person that does this I'm sure its very personality related it just so happens your into trees.

Yes I'm the same, I think it is because we have obsessive personalities , could be worse though you could have chosen drugs rather than trees.

No, you're not mental, you're a tree surgeon! I stopped climbing 10 years ago and still do this every day!

Every tree gets priced, even when I'm cyclingbto forget about work.

I've a bundle of cards with me I often stop a family outing to put a card through the door of a property with 'potential tree work'.
