I've always found it annoying when a groundy doesn't know how to rig, especially when you need the piece to run for safety reasons. But like previously said a bollard is a good idea, also slings and big dans to make it simple at their end and speed things up a bit. If a job is looking to dangerous without someone with experience rigging it should be called off. I've always liked wraps around the trunk if the tree is coming down, and you can't get simpler than that :-).

So the companies you "sub" to don't have trained ground staff? Do they have aerial rescue certified staff or chainsaw users? Should these companies be taking on dismantling jobs in the first place??

Yeah last 2 guys ive had on the ground have chainsaw crosscutting and climbing aerial rescue tickets.

To be fair the guys tend to do small trees and hedges but any large trees or more complex jobs that come in im asked to do.

Rather than buying in from Treestuff, who are out of stock anyway, could you link a wrench and a pinto rig with a maillon or a small carabiner for a home made version?

you could use some kind of sling/tape and then something to stiffen it

work as a team, cut to the groundies ability, then build on what they can do, not what they cant.
