Towbar on a tail-lift/tipper truck

Hi all,

I have a Citroën relay that has a tail lift installed and also a tipper body. There is currently no towball on this truck, and I'm wondering whether it would even be possible. I have tried several local companies to no avail, I think it would have to be bespoke to this specific setup as once the body is tipping and the tail lift is in tipping position the tail lift is only an inch or so away from touching the crossmember with the reg plate on it.

 

Anyone able to recommend me somebody who may be able to retrofit one on with a nifty design?

Iv got a transit tipper with a tail lift & tow bar, if you can post a photo of the back of the truck and one from a side view of the chassis area that would help

Our 6 ton iveco has a tow bar and tail lift with no issues.

 

I had all sorts of trouble trying to find one for the Izusu, till I had a look and realised it already had one, but was missing a bit. It is basically a piece of 4x4 inch box section welded to the chassis, the tow bar is on another piece of box section which fits inside the bit on the chassis. You have movethe tow ball in when you tip, or the tail lift hits it. It is a bit of a pain but tail lift often very useful..

That's similar to the Yanks towbars , great idea and useful if you want a drawbar at front that's easily changed .I have one on my F350 .

My tow bar sits further back so the tail lift & tipper can be used, this also doubles up at security for the chipper or any trailer when we,re in the cafe or round the back of a house we lower the tail lift on to the neck of the trailer and isolate it

 

Any thing can be made and id recommend sitting the tow bar back to miss the tipper etc

90x90 box section is a nice snug fit inside 100x100 box with 3mm wall thickness. Its what I used on the cherry pickers drawbar so the chipper does not clump the basket.

Might be a silly question but how do you tip when there is a tail lift? I can't visualise how the chip gets past the pat the tail gate.
