Hi all been googling for days and need some help. I'm running a Posch 350s firewood processor by PTO currently . The machine does have the capacity to run on 3 phase. I have had a price off Jasp Wilson for £2.5k for a DIY kit . Unfortunately not made of money!!! Seems like a minefield out there in the world of 3 phase motors. I'm in the Midlands can anyone help or point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Do you know the power needed to run your processor. Picking a motor if you know that is easy then.

You would need more than a motor.

To convert away from PTO you would need a motor and pump and probably some pipework changing as well as some bracketry and suchlike.

The price you cite doesn't seem out of the way to replace the heart of the machine.

What do you mean by: "The machine does have the capacity to run on 3 phase"?

If the machine already has provision for a motor, i.e a gear box fitted, then all you need as a suitably sized motor, circa 20kw i'd guess.

Otherwise you'll need an electric motor, gear box (engine runs opposite way to pto) and possibly an alternator, if you need 12v for magic eyes, cooling fan etc.

Weld it all together, job done.

I bought a Palax Combi from Wilson in 1996. PTO tractor 3 point linkage model

It had the triple pulley on the top drive shaft already in place and all I had to do was order a 3 phase motor from John Rundle

Rundles

I welded a piece of inch box section to bring the switch within easy reach and apart from working out the size of motor (I think I just looked at the specsheet for the electric model) it was quite an easy job.

Measure the length of belts and order.

Even the plate the motor sits on had the holes already there for it.

The other advantage is that I can still pick it up with the tractor for work in the woods as a three phase motor is not affected by being driven so there is no need to take the belts off.

So have a good look at the electric version of your Posch and take lots of photos, find out the motor hp and Robert should be your mother's brother!
