Old english walnut timber prices.

I have been asked to take down an old english walnut tree with a 28-30 inch diameter trunk and was wondering if the trunk is sellable rather than ringing it up for firewood. Im in east yorkshire and the buyer would have to collect from site as i have no machinery capable of moving a trunk that large. The trunk reaches about 18ft in height before it begins to stem off. Any rough guestimates on its value are appreciated and if anyone knows an interseted buyer even better. Thanks for looking :thumbup1:

I also looked at a walnut today, client doesn't want to go to hassel of extracting the stump though. What we do is cut out the unions in large blocks for turning, take straight pieces out in pieces minimum of 3ft legnths for short planks and save a load of the smaller pieces that could be used for handles etc. I recon you could salvage up to £100 worth from test crickets' tree. We chuck the lot to one side in the yard and sell it to the guy who deals with the wood turner 2s 2 or 3 times a year and split the cash between the lads
