i admire the extra effort you're putting in to guarantee good seasoned wood for your customers...seems a lot of work to me though!

Your right is, a lot of work been enjoying it for four years now, not really any money in it but who knows in the future. If I stop enjoying it, will be an easy decision to knock it on the head.

Not that it's any of my business but why would you leave it in long lengths to dry only to cut it down to size later ?

Often the final cutting is done on a saw with a conveyor, so it is loaded directly into the truck or trailer after the final cut and delivered.

So leaving it in long lengths reduces re-handling.

once you have split into billets and seasoned what are you using chop up the billets?

I have a nine year old hakki pilki 2x . I think a circular saw bench with conveyor would do the job and be cheaper to buy. With my 2x I still have the flexibility to process 8" timber straight out.
