srt crown or base

im finking of taking up srt is best to tiy I to the Crown or base ?

i prefer crown anchor, less damage and weight on the branch.

Also less strench in the rope because it's only half the lenght compared to the base anchor.

Pros and cons for both. If you can isolate a decent TIP then canopy anchor everytime. If you get a TIP but is through a busy crown so you can't isolate then base tie it. Remember that your anchor points have to be solid because of the extra forces involved as mentiond

It is best to tie into the crown or the base.

 

That's not a facetious answer, it depends on all relevant factors.

Just pinched this from another thread (sorry can't remember op) 'cos I'll be trying srt for the first time on the next quiet day & have been wondering the same but this is best of both.

You can do both if you feel it is justified. The base then becomes your back up.
