I think the Dolmar 5105 looks great and I'd love to try one (never even held one).

As a long term concern I'd be worried about the maximum revs on the Dolmar being so high (at 13,800rpm).

The Husky 550 revs at 10,200rpm maximum and I'd say that's plenty high enough.

the 260 was a good saw in its day,261 is pants , 550xp is a far better saw ,well it must be iv got 2, off em :biggrin:

 

Have the 550 been reliable jonny? My 2 560's have but I have heard stories of the 550's being unreliable. I have an early 261, hardly used and re built 3 times if any one wants to buy it, no use as a saw but makes a bloody good paper weight!

I think the max on the 550 xp is a lot higher than 10,200…that is under load RPM and not "free maximum"

Your 13,800 is "free Max" on the Dolmar i believe.

All is good as there designed for those revs :001_smile:
