Certainly is a lot of money. I just use a file in a guide and a granberg precision grinder if there bad.

The only advantage of this I can see is it might make it easier to sharpen my lucas slabbing chain while still on the mill.

The reason for the purchase is that I have recently lost access to a nice vice and I don't think my housemates wouldn't be too happy if I bolted one to the kitchen counter.

 

 

I don't understand this statement. Most of us don't rely on a "nice vice" for sharpening, indeed the time for sharpening is when the saw has lost its edge and that's seldom near a nice vice, the best available is often a log vice of something improvised both of which are perfectly adequate.

 

If you have to take the saw home for sharpening the trick to attaching to the kitchen worktop is to use wing nuts and store the vice in the cutlery draw when not in use:laugh1:
