550XP, seize issues

Husky technical want to see the saw so I doubt I will get much chance to find the issue but I will post any findings.

 

Just out of interest how long do you chaps take to clean a cylinder up? I dont want you to give any secrets away :001_smile: Im sure it will vary but I guess it isnt a 10 min job.

 

Ive never done it, got plenty of probably salvageable ones on the shelf. Most of my customers need the saw doing last week so they just pay to get it done ie new pot and piston. I think I will have to give it a try when I have a bit of time.

 

I did see a youtube of of some American guy who was cleaning them up with an airline grinder using sandpaper and scotch brite, looked very effective and quick!

45 mins - longer if the transfer is really thick!

Cheers for the info.

 

Quicker than I thought tbh. I will give myself a couple of hours on the first attempt.:001_smile:

 

I never thought to salvage a cylinder, I either bought a new one or a new saw but then all the machines we ran were pro saws being used day in day out so cost wasn't an issue.
