Been splitting oversized oak and ash for biomass today. 15 tons up to 3ft diameter and only one blockage so a nice day.

Some billet setup gdh, any video footage of this process?

I only tend to do it once a month but I'll try and film some next time.

That would be great if you get the chance. (I know its not always convenient when the work is on).

No problem, I like seeing other setups so it's only fair to put some of ours up.

Small scale weekend woodland work.

I posted a video a few pages back showing the splitting setup from the piles.

Pre-splitting I fell and buck to 1.5m, then load and haul on this pallet rack and build up piles in clearings near the road, where the rounds can be split into ibc cages. Its 5mins of chainsawing so don't waste your time waiting for something else to happen if your not keen.

Anyone been working flat out processing or cutting and splitting their logs lately, I've been on and off with it working it around other jobs but as it's a fine Sunday morning with lovely clear blue sky I had better get on with it all before the weather turns!

Split 10 ibc's beech/sycamore & ash this week, had good week sales too with 10cu/m delivered out as well, didn't expect phone to start ringing so early. Harvest nearly finished so get splitting finished soon

I like this. Don't get me wrong, I love big machines and the efficiencies they bring but this example of a straight forward low impact woodland work is so appealing.

Agreed. It's nice to see an old tractor in the woods and there's something satisfying about doing logs by hand. With a chainsaw of course.
