Tips and advice for snedding?

When you're cutting the branches on the right-hand side of the stem, rest the chainsaw body on the log you're cutting (careful not to nose it in the ground) Those short periods of time when you're not holding the full weight of the saw really add up.

 

Also, you can turn the saw onto the drive-sprocket side and rest it on the stem as you (carefully) swivel the saw to remove the topside branches.

I hope it isn't, cause I'll look like a right moron! I thought those tips were basic enough.

yep try and keep the saw on the timber as much as you can, also if you are felling softwood and you have the space (cutting a wider rack) bench fell as much as possible the extra hight saves mega strain on your back, and try and do larch in the winter as you could sned them with a stick

i really enjoyed forestry work apart from horrible big hairy outside sitka

iam with edd on this, could you be more specific please for us to try and help out. have you used a saw before, have you done any courses, what type of trees?? the questions we need answered are endless on this subject lol
