.suspect death of 357 was running over it with tractor:thumbup:

 

That might explain it, surprising it continued to work at all. Surely if its just the flywheel side crankcase it's worth hanging on to until another saw comes up cheap.

We have a job lot of these chassis and other bits currently listed on Ebay, that would sort your problem but you have to buy the lot

 

Your box of bits is making good money........anyone got a 357 for spares,just need a good crankcase.i will have a go fixing it ,but going for a 550 too just in case

I was watching the box of 357 bits but it went past my comfort zone :blushing:

I have a small pile of tired 357xp`s ( my favourite small saw by a long chalk :thumbup1: ) I am going to attempt to resurrect a couple of them which brings me to the question of piston/barrel kits. There are a few different kits out there, some are 46mm and others 47mm bore. Are the 47mm ones a big bore kit with a power advantage or is there nothing in it ?

I sometimes wonder is it worth selling anything bar the very best machines as complete, job lots of bits always make good money

I would use the originals unless they are badly scored through broken ring or circlip. Other than that, the Meteor kits are probably the best!
