Most of the bigger sellers do pretty much rock bottom prices year round. I doubt you'll see many offers, maybe on the off range they are doing a deal on

I am going to buy either the stihl ms271 or the Husqvarna 455e that's why I was asking if there were any sales or special offers.

FR Jones has 30% off stihl pro saws I think.

Did not click on link to see what there was. Bought a mower for a good price though😀

 

Edit just looked at the link some good deals. But you've got to pick up presumably as will fall under stihl online policy

I'd recommend buying local if you can - decent local outlets should be able to get pretty close to online prices anyway, and the little extra it may cost you is more than worth it to help the retailer remain open for business in your locality. Local firms are very important in this game and can save you money in the long term - it is also a lot easier/less embarrassing to get warranty work sorted if you are taking a machine back to the person you bought it from (unless you have the hide of a rhino!).

There is very little margin in new saws these days, in fact in a few years i can see many dealers like ourselves having a serious re think as stocking thousands of pounds worth of kit to make a 2% return isnt good buisness, The last post was bang on about trying tobuy localy as with abit of good old fashioned haggling most will get as near to internet price as possible, I know personaly we bend over backwards to help with problems with machines we sell, staying late to fix loan machines etc, the customer suports us we look after them , its simple, and the man who buys on line who can find us the second theres a problem can join the que,

Spot on, pay a fair price and get proper service and good back up. If you are obliged to collect the saw, the extra "internet discount" can soon be swallowed up in travelling and time wasted. How would the average tree surgeon feel if he lost a job to a rival company based 100 miles away for £20??? I can imagine his comments on finding out

At the moment the choice is still there to buy locally, but if things don't change the local dealers will dissapear and things will be much different.
