I grabbed a bargain 372 a while back off eBay but hadn't used it until the other day when the brake decided to stop working.

When I bought it the guy told me it had a big bore kit fitted and was around 90cc??

The plastic block and springs have melted and I'm wondering if it's due to the power increase?

It's in getting fixed now but hoping that's not the case.

I'm guessing he means the plastic block that is part of the chain brake mechanism, the knuckle joint bit, it has melted into the brake band spring. If so it's usually down to the saw running higher than idle with the chain brake on.

Ah so we think its the knee link joint that has melted, if so the only way to create enough heat is as Skyland says, high rpm with the brake on, or miss use of the brake.
