Fitting new glow plugs on GM 220

Just a simple question.

I want to fit new glow plugs to the machine, 55hp Isuzu engine.

Anyone done it? Anything to look out for and keep in mind, someone has warned me I could easily "crack" something.

I have the plugs so I can get straight on with it.

I did it on a 300tdi no issues (ignorance is bliss) but now I've got the jitters.

Thanks in advance.

Soak the glowplugs in a freeing oil for a few days beforehand when the machine is not going to be used.

If you crack off a glow plug head you may be as I was...

Some 200euros out of pocket for a specialist to remove.

Even worse for me was as it was on a common rail engine, the injector required re-programming (removed for access) which the apprentice mechanic couldn't do until his boss returned some 2 weeks later.

Best of luck with that.

Ty

Anyway FWIW we had a go today and they all came out as sweet as a nut. I had to buy a 12mm pipe socket for a tenner so no big deal. We snapped the thread off the top through over tightening the little nut that holds the contact in place, but a little bit of solder will sort that out. Starts a treat now.

Thanks for your help.
