That talks about heating to 60c but thought to clean a DPF we are talking 600c. Can see it's great for the oil but that is not my major concern.......yet

The temperature of 600 deg is in the exhaust not the engine. Your engine will run at about 90 deg. Starting off in the morning may not cure your dpf problem but it will go along way to help it as most of the clogging will be when the engine is not up to temp ie 10 minutes every morning.

These heaters are more useful to common rail than they are to old 90's diesels hence the reason the disco 3 and 4 have them fitted and they run on start up at temps below 6 deg.

Any engine 1920 or present day will benefit hugely when starting from 60 deg the reason merc taxis do a million miles and biddy cars are often clapped at 60 k

Having just scrapped a high mileage Merc with a pre heater but without a DPF, the heater helps engine wear but still only works ONCE the engine is running. Mercs have DPF issues too!! You are confusing two different issues.

The heaters they are looking at on here can be set off by a timer or remote control to preheat the engine. The old sprinters were set up with the heaters because the engine was set up to be overcooled to give a safety margine. All makes have problems with dpfs but I have not heard of rising oil levels.

The other thing to investigate is whether the regeneration is actually the problem or is the injection pump leaking is the head cracked. Is the injection timing correct.

Is the injection timing correct.

Went to another dealer today and had pretty much the same response as previously but a bit more candid about the oil issue but reset timing on the injectors as recommended by Isuzu. Felt smoother afterwards and they reckoned it would improve my MPG
