Fair play to Justin Welby for being honest about his faith and his doubts.

Makes a refreshing change to have an Archbishop of Canterbury who doesn't just spout dogmatic sound bites.

Oh come on!

Please!

The man is a professional bull-shotter; a very well educated man who nevertheless chooses to spout utter nonsense to create a verbal comfort blanket for the congenitally child-like.

This is just more of the same bull-shot.

It's equivalent to sinead o'conner tearing up pics of the pope or madonna making faux outrageous videos or judges leaving a tv show on the eve of a new series or ...

It's good for business.

Edit to create bull 'shot' for the benefit of the pearl clutchers

I'll state first that I'm an atheist.

Is this the church trying to get some media time? Some publicity? Call me cynical, but with the tens of thousands suffering through atrocities in the Middle East over the last decade or so, how come none of that made him doubt his god?

I hate this!!!!!! Why do those who don't believe need a name???????:confused1:

Whats the name for those who don't believe in elves or fairies????????

Surely not believing in some great pixie in the sky is just sanity and is not in need of some label to denote your lucidity.

I don't really see the problem with giving a name to non-believers. We have to call ourselves something.

Apparently 84% of the world's population believe in God so 'atheism' is certainly not the default setting.

I don't call myself anything, why should I???

What percentage of the western world is now fat?? do people of normal healthy weight need a label???

Being in a majority is in no way an indication of being right, IMO.

I don't understand why it upsets you. Giving a name to any particular stance doesn't make it carry more or less weight. It just helps to clarify matters.

People who choose not to eat meat are termed vegetarians. This doesn't imply that meat eaters are necessarily better or right.

Surely the fact that non belief is called atheism is a total non-issue. Or am I totally missing something here?
