Play equipment in trees

What does everyone think of this?

A lady on a Facebook page that my missus is on would like one made, but I am no carpenter! Also there must be rules and regs that apply to installing something like this.

And what happens when the wind is blowing the bolts surely pull out.

Are there any play equipment installers or treehouse builders on here? I would be happy to pass on your details

I have a regular client with an island on the river Couesnon that exits at Mont St Michael.

They had a tree house built between 4 convenient and massive poplars and the supports are bolted into the trunks around 3m up.

Now we've had no real terror winds here for years and the structure only requires a minimum of adjustment on a yearly basis.

The pops are good for a few more years, although I reckon they may reach terminal decline any time soon.

We have just spent 3 days deadwooding the trees on the island and removing mistletoe (widow makers)

I also get to see the trees at a summer garden party so twice a year inspection by both tree surgeon and carpenter.

So something like that can work, provides the trees are suitable and I can find a carpenter to do it

I was a bit surprised that the main treehouse restaurant at Alnwick gardens is fitted to the trees fairly basically.

I was expecting some cunning eco system.

Personally I wouldn't bolt it to a tree like that I think it's an easy way out. I've drawn a rough picture of what I would do, maybe a bit over done but as tree gets bigger bolts can be undone supports can be moved.

In the States, if they are fitting treehouses at a reasonable height, they tend to use a sliding bracket to allow for stem movement. Might not be needed for a low swing bar...

Well... sometimes on a Sunday I'll set out at 8am on my velo and have elevenses at the visitors centre.

It's around 60km through the lanes.

Or, I'll detour to Avranches where there is a boulangerie open all day Sunday and have a bun and coffee whilst admiring the Sherman in the square and reflecting on the events of 70 years ago.

Does anyone know where I can get a bracket like this?

Local fabricator? I have a tame fabricator who regularly gets given a photo and asked when can I have six of them as I need them yesterday. When my truck pulls in his yard I think another piece of his soul dies.

You could make that by welding a bit of rectangular box to a bit of flat bar, the other part is a screw fastener and a bit of tube, all garage diy stuff.
