Tracked chipper obstacles

Does anyone have any experience in getting tracked chippers over Armco barriers (or similar obstructions) using ramps?

Please share your ingenuity, ramp designs or ideas.

Could not just you put it on high trailer then drive alongside barrier and use ramps to go over them.

Maybe there is a course or qualification? Surely not just anyone can do it

I would imagine removing the barrier would open an H&S can of worms as would trying to use ramps,skids etc roadside. We have always used a hijab on any kit that needs to go the other side of the barrier. There is normally Tm about on these jobs and the sneaky feckers love to report back anything untoward.

Those armco barriers are actually under tension. I mate was pollarding some limes next to a dual carriageway once, and decided to save time to simply top the tree with all the branches still on. When it hit the barrierr, it bent it, all the bolts snapped, and it was left loose.

inspector turns up, cost them 5 grand to have it repaired!!

when we used to do a lot of it , the local depot would send a truck out ,built in compressor job and take a section out. we put chipper in they put it back.

I wouldn't try doing it your self , as mentioned im sure it does require some training , its a safety barrier after all ......correct torque settings and if I recall correctly hade to have new nuts and bolts every time
