My old mum has a defender 90 with a meer 28k on the clock. She can't drive these days but could not bare to sell it. So it's now SORN and parked up on the farm. Sure this is not good for it so what can be done to help preserve it until it can be sold?

Hi wood oil the chassis well do the oil take the battery off Antifreeze take the water out what Land Rover is it thanks Jon

Thanks Jon

Think it's a 200 TDI.

Only alternative I can see is if we got it agg registered then it would get a few short runs around the farm but can't see that helping it much

Hi wood as tree said they can go down hill very fast when not in use you may be AGG reg as you say then your using it thanks Jon

You should be able to run it around off-road on the farm without ag registration (SORN is statutory off-road notice and you wouldn't be contravening that?) I would get an open sided cover over it - few sheets of tin on top of a wooden frame lean-to against a barn, then set a reminder in your diary to start it up every three months and take it up and down the track. It will clear out the cobwebs and keep everything freed off.

Rust corrodes faster than use wears

Proper preservation is a time consuming thing

Why not just sell it now, defenders are bringing decent prices

Would love to but not mine to sell.

Thing is it's only a small farm so not got hundreds of acres to take for a spin on. Most of my processing goes on in some fields just down the road hence need to make agg registered if it's to find any real use here.
