Husky 365 or Dolmar 6100

Those are a couple of fairly serious saw's for a bit of home logging, what exactly will you be cutting ?

 

From personal experience and if it's anything like the huskies I use then the 365 is gonna be a bit of a beastie if you're gonna be using it for any length of time, I've got a Makita EA3201s which I know ain't quite in the same league but it's a beauty of a saw to use smooth, light, fairly pokey and cuts real well (makes mince meat of the equivalent Stihl) so if this is anything to judge by then the 'Dolly' should be a good'n !...

I still haven't had a reply from HuskyDusky as to who was selling the 365 for £450 and whether that included VAT, so I've no idea what he's using it for either.

 

If it's just firewood he can have my low hours DCS4301 for less than either if he's within 50 miles of me, and delivered free too!

 

Maybe he'll be back soon to shed more light on the situation...

Right,as I understand it the husky was originally for a customer who put a deposit on it then didn't return,this was a few months ago at least and the customer has made no contact,so this is the price I was offered it at.

Im just a 'homeowner' user doing my own firewood too... doesnt mean i cant justify the 6401 iv just bought, with a 28inch bar (90% what i do is with a Mak 520 and 16 or 18inch bars, granted).

We have a 6100, its a good saw, not as fast as the 560 but pretty good, better than the 362 IMO.

Who said I was judging him or questioning his choice of saw, I just asked what the intended use was outta interest !...

 

Sometimes using a saw that's to big for the task can be just as much hard work or just as dangerous as using a saw that's to small for the task in hand !...

 

You wouldn't drive a thumb tack in with a 14lb sledge hammer would you, or maybe you would !...

Dolly all the way. I also just use mine for home firewood and i have two saws. I have a dolly ps3500 and a mak 9010 beast. Complete ends of the spectrum, but i love em.

Did i use the word judge? Did i suggest any of us were? I simply made the point after several asked what he wanted a saw of this size for - whos business is it of any of ours? He asked a question between two saws... not what CC saw should he buy... my point was - unless he is a novice/newbie he will have an idea what size he needs (or just plain wants).

 

But you right i wouldnt use a 14lb hammer to drive home a thumb tack... id use the 14lb hammer and several 6inch nails
