Local Doctors Warning

Hi all I have had aches and pains due to the nature of the job for many years . All my working life since leaving school in 1986 has been brutal on my body and is now starting to affect everyday working life . So as many of us just carry on regardless and put off going to the Doctors. As we all know our own bodies better than anyone else . I decided after many threats by the good lady indoors I shall visit the Doc . Anyway turns out that I have Tendinitis / Rotor cuff injury . Advice was to avoid activities that aggravate the problem  . Well thats nearly all Tree work . To top it off I may have Calcium deposits :001_huh: . I think it has a lot to do with the long handled hedge work . So even though Im going to up my supplements I think hedge work duties will have to be past on . Trouble is nobody can quite cut the mustard . Hedge works takes practice and a good eye . Think I should be a Bonsai Specialist :laugh1:

when i was 22 i was working on a night job , i was about to lower section of sycamore down and asked the groudsman to let the section run so that it did not come back and hit me !! to cut a long storey short he didnt let it run instead he held tight and the section of timber came back and dislocated my right shoulder . when i got to hospital they maniulated my shoulder back into it socket . and was told i would be off work for at leat 2-3 months . 5 days later a saw the ortherpedic surgeon who told me that he could not see me going back to climbing trees !!! but with 6 months of physio and alot of will power a gradually got back to work and eventually got back to climbing !! but the problem has not ended as i have dislocated my shoulder several times since but with more physio (some of it being private and costing alot) i have built up the strength in my shoulder .

at first i thought that my tree surgery carer was over just as it was getting started . but it turned out to be totally different . so dont give up mate

sorry to hear that mate, i am fed up with a sore back big time, i have had it since i was 14, i am nearly 34. if i work like a dog it isnt too bad, but the rest of my body suffers and the vibrsations on my hands are a killer. i have been seeing the ostio 1 or 2 tmes a month now for 13 years. it affect my life so much, cant wash the car, cant do the garden, i have to get others to move things for me. carrying the kids is almost a no goer. it is fine by the end of the night as i have loosened up, but the mornings are a nightmare. i am sitting on a bouncy ball just now and i have shooting pains up my back. my spine is fine, it is all muscular, and i have been told yoga and stretching will cure my problem, so i am fed up making excuses for not doing this and being in pain. so yoga it is and i am off to see if a mate of mine who runs the gym will give me some personal training. and the mini loader is getting dropped off this week for a demo aswell.

Cheers guys I,m going for a sauna sometime this week and a sports massage . I,ll just keep plodding on until then . Was thinking about going back to a 4 day week . That will leave me sat , sun and monday free . Any younger climbers out there should strive to get in a good working position and use any advances in tree climbing to there advantage . thanks again .

Yeah your right there. Arbtalk medicine isnt prescription its an addiction . Trouble is though when you intend to spend 15 / 20 minutes browsing it nearly always ends up being hours .
