it's a shame because i am now much less likely to trust people and more likely to refuse people who genuinely need help.

People like him slowly sap human kindness out of the world.

fair play to you. I like to think i trust everyone until i am let down, but it is difficult to live by once you have taken a kicking. A long walk in the woods helps my head after things like that.
