A good 2-3 foot across

Sod that!

Get round tonight and get some pics!

My mate dug a Euc stump out about that size by hand, took him a couple of days.

He asked me if I could get rid of the rootball.

I advised him to bury it in the hole.

Hand dug a lot that size in my earlier days. Start with a decent size trench to give room to move and the attitude that it will take as long as it takes. Trying to rush and cut corners leads to disappointment. Rabbit spades are excellent for cleaning around the biggest roots which allows for careful chainsaw use. Cut every root to the edge of the trench then real close to the root bole.

Used to be real good paying jobs, when the homeowner had spent two weekends digging at it and admitted defeat, any cost seemed reasonable.

Do the sensible thing, Just bore round the cambium 3 - 4 inch.

Then bore two holes in the centre and we he's not looking fill it with semtex, though you won't need much. 250g of that good stuff'll bring down a plane.

Used this technique many a time with trees next to buildings and railway bridges

Good luck

Sam
