550xp or Echo equivalent?

You're right, I know you're right but I fancy a smaller saw than the 560xp.

The cs620sx sounds like a great saw but is the same as my 560xp.

 

The cs450 is the right weight but 5cc less than a 550xp and I'd be reluctant to modify a new cs450 that has 2yr warranty.

This I recomend . I have "spud ported " 346 . Its been outstanding . must be 3 or 4 years since he did it for me . Runs a 15" full chiz driven by an 8 pin . Would be bonkers on a 13" !

I got a 560xp 17 months ago and that had 'all the quirks ironed out'. Ran well for two months and has never been the same since. Even had a new engine two months ago and it's still crap!

Same to be said of my t540xp.

 

Neither start well when they're cold.

 

Or warm.

 

Or hot.

You're either really unlucky to have picked 2 bad ones...

 

Or it's operator error, meaning you're doing something extremely wrong.

 

A few little pointers: don't leave them idling for a few minutes before turning them off.

Make sure you run the initial set up.

However, it's the saws not me.

Annoyingly because I could fix my methods but it seems the saws can't be fixed.

well i ve learnt, buy echo or dolmar. got a second hand echo cs610, now the better 620. i fell big edge trees 3x bar length all day (64 link chain). it runs stops and starts sooooo easily. buy one.

560 is crap build quality, too many problems. dont care who argues with me i ve tested the lot and i run dolmars and echo. echo is also cheaper with excellent customer service. we all know husky customer service......on your own!!

Plugged it in to reset it three times.

Three new spark plugs, just to be sure apparently.

Cleaned the carb.

 

It's also had a new AV spring.

New starter recoil spring.

New chain brake band.

 

On my t540xp:

Same as above and a new chain side cover.

 

Wake up Husqvarna, your stuff is sh1t!

 

Edit: and I stopped buying Stihl 3yrs ago cos of poor quality and terrible service regarding warranties!

But resetting the carb 3 times, and new plugs... It would be interesting to see the carb data and plugs.

A brake band is a consumable but considering how often i put the brake on under load, it's very disappointing.

 

I saw the data after it was reset the second time and the dealer explained a few things.

How did I set the saw up? Well, I asked the dealer how to run it and he said just run it normal and hard. Don't let it idle.

I never let my saws idle anyway because I know how fast the engine gets hot.

So, none of it makes sense but both saws are a bit rubbish. The 560xp is a bitch to start 60% of the time. My t540xp is a hog to start 100% of the time and regularly stalls of its own volition. It's power is also poor.

 

BTW, my fuel and oil quality and mixing is good.
