We have a 46 litre fluval edge as a nano marine tank.

In it we have a pair of percula clowns, a rainsford goby, a scooter blenny, 3 hermit crabs, a peppermint shrimp and various soft corals.

I made my own LED lighting for it, just bought the correct colour spectrum LED's, wired them up onto a heatsink and put a fan on it, cost about £15.00 in all with the driver and it works well, some of those shop bought LED lights are insane prices.

My dad has the most increadible reef tank, but he has spent years getting it like it.

Completely missed this post - sorry! Sounds like a really interesting set up. I'm happy to admit that marine aquatics scares me somewhat (not just the price!). I'd love to see pictures of your's and your father's tank.

Globalnetwork - interesting fish in there. What are they?

CallumA - my daughter also loves the tank. One of her first words was Wow! and she knew to point at the fish food tub for feeding quite early on.

Just waiting an hour or two until there is no external light to take a photo. I'm really very pleased with it - the dwarf grasses and java moss finish it off nicely. Now comes the hardcore gardening to keep everything in check! I'm rather tall and I can only just reach to the bottom and need a step to get to the back!

Mainly Rainbowfish now, took me while to get hooked but all the varieties mix well.

Did have two tanks, a his and hers, mine had ship wrecks etc and other half's had Egyptian and roman type decor, she decided wanted rid so she could keep snakes again so now got 8 vivariums instead, but we do both seem to find ourselves hanging round the fish when go to the pet shop, so there's a chance I'll get another one :)

Much to my wife's bemusement/amusement we now have a very tiny 2nd tank for the purpose of breeding a red cherry shrimp hybrid. Bought several hundred of them from a local breeder, not realising that they were quite as small as they were. One bag went into the big tank and many were quite quickly eaten. The other bag I kept back and set up a 15l tank to provide a steady steam of shrimp for the big tank. There are loads of places for them to hide, but there are also lots of predators!
