CHAS is the next on the list for us. Thankfully we are pretty conversant and experienced with health and safety procedure / documentation from working for the power utilities. If you had to go into this stuff green, I'd say you would be out of your depth.

CHAS and constructionline are best completed together - much of the same and saves a heap of time.

I'd go for it Matt, its fairly stressful to do just like any other PQQ, but once its done you just need to send them up to date insurances and other docs every year.

Its not really pass / fail either you give them all the info, if theres anything short or needs more detail they just ask for it and then your registered on the database.

I went through the same as what Dave is now a few years back, we got a consultant in and put systems and procedures in place, we got AAAC and ISO 9001 with the intention of going straight onto iso 14000 and OHAS 18000 and Achillies but I just could not take the stress and wanted to concentrate on getting some work done.

The accreditations add a lot of weight when tendering for work especially with LA's but you still need to be competitive.

Constructionline is a good start in getting your docs in order and getting a badge for your letterhead, lol, let me know if need any info Matt and good luck with it.

we have been working for Northants police for years, then all of a sudden apparently we need a constructionline approval. so more expense for the boss, 90notes i think.

more jobs for the boys in their office.

Not really. You might have been doing a good job, but your safety standards and risk management could have been no better than a cowboy - Instead of having now to prove all that stuff for every job, you become pre-approved. The £90 is nothing though, its the hours and hours of office time that costs.

are we getting confused with CHAS ''contractors health and safey scheme'' and constructiononline which is basically an online directory that merely requires members to be CHAS accredited?

Constructiononline wanted £1500 for me to join there little club, errr no thanks!
