It's fine to transport machinery from job to job. Cranes, jcb's etc can all be run on red between sites. It's if you're hauling goods that's the problem. So the processor is fine on the back of the tractor, unless that is you're the dealer selling processors in which case the processor is the goods.

Think your right there tom, we used to have a contractor twice a year till we bought our own processor, and he travelled from Dumfries to here 40 mins by car, and I know he ran on red because I let himfill up from our tank as he was running low on one occasion.

How do south west firewood get there machinery about

Not quite sure if that is the case? Isnt it more to do with the theme of the journey, i.e agricultural related etc? you cant / shouldnt run diggers about from job to job on red if they are used on building sites etc but fine for farm ditching etc.

It doesn't matter wether its mobile plant like a big crane or agricultural. It can be run on red between sites. It's the haulage of goods that's the problem. And even the agricultural argument doesn't apply here, lots of farmers have been done for hauling grain to merchants and dealers. You can technically only haul back to your own farm. Or the farm you are working for if you're a contractor.

Red diesel for hauling own produce back to farm or machinery to field but within a 15 miles radius memory serves me correct .

You cant deliver the produce or for hire or sale while running on Red .

Anyone putting Red diesel in a car will need a letter from Elvis ! Especially if he has done a 40 min journey to job .Hmmm.m
