Cmc spider lift or hinowa?

Recommended Posts

How long will it take to earn 25K net profit before that lift starts earning you a profit? (+ running costs + possibly finance charges).

I know businesses that could buy that outright but don't - there could be a reason for that, most likely because it may take many years before it is paid for and you actually start to make a profit from it.

Just one opinion though of course.

Some are obviously making it work, understand what you're saying though. People had the same doubts about chippers when they first came on the market, now its not possible to run a business without one.

That's a lovely machine. Yeah unfortunately that's way out the box on the budget. Why should they be so worn out? I haven't had a lot of experience with them yet, but do they really get that abused? I know it's a different ball game but I've had a lot of experience with diggers which do get abused and yeah anything at 3000 hrs or over is knackered, but if there's one for sale with like 500/600 hrs on it you would hope it should be pretty good still no?? What made you choose this over something like a hinowa?

I brought one because I was fed up of the hire machine breaking down/intermittently not working, that and I was spending a small fortune on hiring them.

Problem with mewps is they have loads of sensors to stop you using them in an unsafe way but when they play up you can't use the machine at all. So it's not that they get abused but that they get temperamental.

Looked at a second hand machine but it was 7years old, had 2500 hours on it and was still half the cost of a new one. Hence my assumption that one for £25k will be well passed its best.

Hoping if we look after ours it will last for 10years.

Looked at lots of mewps Teupen was simply the best and as some else mentioned the boom set up gives great out reach, which is perfect for tree work, keeps what's holding you up away from what your dropping to the ground.

Thanks for the replies, very informative. I'm currently in talks with a salemen at spiderlifts distributed for cmc, they have a 2009 1000hrs 19m has a outreach of nearly 12 m with one in the basket not a lot less with two, they looking for £28 k +vat. Also can't seem to find much out about these either other then on there website. The cela looks a brilliant machine, have you got number for the distributer kimtree? Or a web address? Cheers everyone

That's true, however the price it came in at had me retreating pretty quickly.

Decided instead to source more consistent timber, however no matter what you are promised, what arrives seems to be somewhat different.

I'm looking to replace ours with new this year if I get a good price for our existing, which fortunately has low hours on it.

I didn't get much feedback from my post a few weeks ago, so still undecided on the brand to go for.

Euraccess are the UK dealer they do have a web site.

if you go with Cela make sure that parts supply is good/quick as here in AUS is extremely crap. The only non service part i have needed so far is a replacement for a burst track adjuster which took a month to arrive

Other basic service parts have taken 3 months or more to arrive and is beyond a :thumbdown:joke

Unfortunately I dont know who is the incompetent party the Aus dealer or the Italian manufacturer

Cela spyder is a good machine but the backup is non existent in AUS

I used a Hinowa lightlift 19.25 for 1.5 yrs doing kotorway and council work, its a good machine but very slow!! also quite wobbly and dosent have a great outreach, but at nearly 20m tall it can get most stuff if yo can track to it!! the main cuircit board went and there where a few electrical problems i experenced! once it cut out on lane 1 of the M50 and my foreman had to wait untill the early hours in the morning to have it recovered!!!!

As said previously, the main thing to look for is good backup regarding parts and support. Some machines tend to be more reliable than others, although most will be reliable if looked after and not abused.

Some of the older machines can be had for relatively little money but if it is a manufacturer you haven't heard of for a while you could face long waits on parts, I'd say parts could be expensive too but bits are expensive for all machines! Unfortunately the manufacturers can often charge what they like as there is no alternative, I've seen circuit boards for nearly £4,000 and 6ft long electric leads for £300 which is scandalous.

Another thing to remember is machines with dual telescopic sections (common with spiders) usually have wire ropes internally, these need to be changed according with manufacturer service instructions, and can cost a fair whack.
