Wood pigeon chicks.

Sorry can't find a wildlife section to post this.

On Friday while fifty feet up a conifer I came face to face with a (very well hidden) wood-pigeon next replete with two chicks. A recce climb hadn't indicated the nest was present. I've pilfered a photo from the web to show what sort of stage they were at - maybe they were a little more mature, the yellow juvenile feathers were still visible but so was the adult plumage. They were as big as chickens - at first I thought they were the mature parents. They were quite cute things really.

They clearly weren't going to budge so we stopped work and arranged to come back at a later date when they'd gone.

The parents were still around and went back to nest when we came down.

How long do you think before they are likely to fledge?

Good karma TTS, well played.

I've shot thousands, but always give law in the nesting season, which seems prolonged now.

Every time we have pulled off site everyone has been pretty understanding apart from developers.
