Dosent burning them encourage more growth?

 

Yes it's part of the natural cycle for them and helps to clear the dead material from the heart so the new shoots can get more light. My next door neighbour tried cutting his down and burning it and it thrived on it.

Surely if you get rid of them people will stop coming round wanting a go on your wife?

Maybe this is why my wife doesn't want me to get rid of the huge one at the front of our house! 😠

I got my cocker spaniel to dig ours out. He got a hell of a shock when I grabbed his nose underground from the other side :D

 

We stopped swinging when I found out I wasn't allowed to keep the car the keys belonged to... :(
