I use one when doing stove repairs and servicing, its one I supply.

About the size and weight of a Henry but with a flexi hose of about 1.5m only.

The type that Hodge has spoken about also work well and offer a lower cost alternative.

But do you really need one ?, when setting the stove up you burn on a bed of ash left on top of the grate, so the only time all the ash needs to come out is spring clean time.

I have one. I got it off eBay, you connect it onto your Hoover, it has a big canister and hose and does a good job. Is this what you class as an attachment?

Hi

yes I can't use that type as I have a dyson and from what i've read they don't work with bagless hoovers or maybe the hose doesn't fit or something like that.

Hi

yes aware of burning on a bed of ash and I do, but I have an aga ludlow which is great, but the ash pan underneath stupidly isn't wide enough and the ash often misses the pan when falling through the grate. It's not often I have to clean the spilt ash but I have learnt the hard way and ruined our last hoover and had to replace the motor from hoovering up ash.

That can be an issue with most stoves, an ash vac is the way forward for regular use.

I had a close shave whilst cleaning out the stove with Henry, sucked up some embers that went into the bag. The vacuum acted like a blacksmiths forge and ignited the bag. Luckily I smelt it before I put it back under the stairs!! V lucky!
