Just been asked to make some cake stands and to leave bark on is there something i can apply to stop bark falling off. They want different types of wood used and quite dry if that helps. This is a first for me so any tips welcome.

My best results with bark remaining have been to wet turn (the bark is quite adhesive at that stage) and then let it dry. I've tried turning with bark on dry wood but it's fairly random as to what remains attached if you don't glue it back on.

Only way really is thin ca glue run between bark and cambium to keep it stuck.

Go with the very thin CA I use it on all natural edged turnings, let it dry off before turning lathe on again though as it will spray if not set. I turn a little, apply the glue then an accelarator, keep an eye on the edge and reapply to any loose areas, usually 100% result.
