"buy cheap buy twice" Not sure this applies to LEDs from what I have seen. You see identical looking lights at vastly different prices depending on where they are being sold.

For all intensive purposes they are all made in China.

You can probably buy direct from China off Ebay. I know many who have done this with no complaints.

Then there are Ebay sellers who buy them from China and retail them in UK for 50% more.

Then there is fancy specialist who does the same as the Ebay seller for twice the price again.

Can't say I have any experience on beacon lights though but would be surprised if they were any different. Personally I buy LEDs from UK Ebay sellers as it gives a bit of backup for a bit more money but have bought LEDs from China in the past with no quality issues.

Other thing to consider is, depending how keen the people your working for, motorway? they may insist the lamps are an, ECE regulation 65 complainant lamp, most of the cheaper leds don't meet this standard, the ones that do meet this are a lot more expensive for no noticeable difference.

There is a VAST difference to "identical" looking lights sold on eBay and those through reputable suppliers such as ourselves. You are correct in saying that they do come from China, however when purchasing and sorting the specification on the units, there is often up to five different quality standards for each of the parts within the light. The main ones are the LED chip itself used, and the driver circuitry. Many of the cheaper brands use low quality LEDs and often use one driver circuit to power all the LEDs onboard, stressing the components, as opposed to the other end of things with multiple circuits per unit.

From what I have heard from our customers who come to us after purchasing LED lighting off eBay, the failure rate is pretty high when the kit is put into a working environment, with the warranty support being very poor.

Make what you will of the lower prices on eBay, but unless I was happy to purchase something that could be considered a "throwaway", I'd personally avoid cheap and cheerful.

cheers

My Dad was at a Land Rover Show I think it was last weekend and he says he saw a company there selling a number of led light bars that changed colour white to amber and flashed too. He said they were blindingly bright lights and me thinks dual purpose. No idea of price. LEDs vary in quality my mates tell me.

I would go along with UTV advice, those Britax ones on the bowser have done a five year watering contract on the motorway where they have been on for eight hours a day five days a week . Still good.
