Does anyone know from what YOM this upgrade was made to the 201 or has it not been upgraded , you would think that having Stihl produce this upgrade in recognition of a manufacturing defect that they would recall all those saws and address the problem.

But it's Stihl so they'll just try to get away doing as little as possible.

I bought a 201 m tronic today, had a go with it on the woodpile, really really gutsy, a world away from the older ones.

Who did you get it from John, we are in the same neck of the woods, and do you mind me asking what the m tronic price is .

Bridgwater mowers, it was £570'ish with the vat, bought a couple of other saws with it so not sure until invoice turns up. If you want to have a go on mine give me a bell on 07798718536, in Kingston St Mary today if that's anywhere near you.
