Hey everyone I climb on a hitch climber thinking about a change of climbing system. Like the idea of the spider jack any advice would be good better still would be any videos of them in a work environment.

Thanks gary

I have a lock jack and a zigzag... I reach for the zigzag every time. I'm really impressed with it. I know you didn't mention the zigzag, but thought I'd let you know!! It's very similar to hitchclimber but so far, for me, it's the best climbing setup I've used with an 11.7 rope.

Big + for the ZZ. It's a Hitch climber but better and totally reliable in terms of bite and tending.

I've struggled with the HC & friction rope size tbh. Either too tight or not totally biting and affecting my general confidence in the basic "trust" in the rig.

Since the (costly) convert in rope and ZZ system, I have to say I'm the better climber for it. I totally trust it and it works every time.

I'll still revert to a HC on a tight friction knot on the old rope for Conifer bashing thou, just so the ZZ doesn't take any unnecessary hits.

Same here... Zigzag most of the time.

Hitchclimber on connys or when working tight to a stem to save the ZZ from cross loading.

Prefer to use an eyetie hitch on the hitch climber... doesn't bind up but grips every time.

I was going to get a spiderjack but spoke to a few people who said it was easy to knock the lever whilst working, resulting in a sudden drop so I decided against it.

everyone is different, SJ all the way for me, its the only reason i haven't converted to SRT full time, it takes a while to get used to it and a thin static rope is really key. its suited to open trees with good rope angles. I think everyone watched spiderjackery and thought it would be that quick and easy.. that being said it is a wicked tool and i wouldn't be without it. the pros outway the cons for my climbing style

Put a Rope Wrench with your HC then when you discover how much easier life is on a stationary rope, get a Hitch Hiker!

Hee-Hee!

Right spiderjack users! Just bought my self a spiderjack. 2.1 dyneema. I'm using with 2 DMM ultra o's. Does anyone think it sits at a slight angle? Only using an ultra o on the bridge attachment side is that I have a dmm axis swivel and I can't get any other carabiner to fit it as the gate won't go through the swivel( if you know what I mean) I can use other crabs but then can't get the system off my bridge easily.

I use one ultra o and a shadow or a phantom i think cant remember which one, it does state in the manual what carabiners to use. but its your preference at the end of the day. i find that using the o's you do tend to have an angle on the spiderjack, just switch the crab with an angled head and it will sit better, the angled head allows you to put it on and off without snagging on the open gate (if you understand what im saying), i.e. pushing the spliced eye or tied hitch further away from gate and those rubber grommit things they give you are quite useful at keeping it where its supposed to be!

im currently running tachyon 11.5mm and its doing fine with this rope.
