Hi guys,

I'm sure that this topic has come up before but....

what are your opinions on yell.com's priority / sponsored listings (the ones that place you at the top of their search page)?

We all know that they are expensive (the particular one i'm looking into is around £2k) but the main thing is: Are they going to get you any calls?

Any better alternatives?

thanks:001_smile:

More hassle than its worth mate. Expect no useful calls, lots of what rupe said, and 6 weeks of an annoying irish pixie pestering you every day and not taking no for an answer trying to sell you other yellow pages related crud. At least thats my experience!!

I told them to bring her to court when they try and get the 800 quid out of me that I allegedly owed them, as I had a recording of her and the lies that she spouted about how much of a failure I would be without her help and about her vast experience and knwoledge in the feild of marketing/advertising (that was the real lie).

They dropped the pursuit of the money. As we all know mis-selling is an offence so if you sign the paper it means nothing. If you get no decent work from it then you don't need to pay them, especially if they specifically told you that you would get calls and work. They usually say lots of call and lots of work. They reckon they get 30,000 hits for tree work in my area per month yet they can't tell me what percentage are for actual work and waht percentage of that comes to an actual job. That figure, divided by the number of contractors listed would be the correct figure of what you would get, but of course they don't tell you that bit.

thanks for the replies guys,

yeah get the feeling its all in the sales pitch:thumbdown:

any one got any positives about yell?

I'm getting plenty of work word of mouth, but it could be better - just trying to raise our profile - the difficulty is in finding the right way?
