Avenue of Limes from 50-60 years ago, which had a view across open Heathland looking north away from London.

Has hardly changed, aparty from the secondary woodland that has now engulfed the view

We all no that trees have age to them but a photograph like that really brings it home, looking at the trees all in exactly the same place. Love old black and white and sepia photographs

Dare I say it; each and every place looks "nicer" in the old photograph; the modern ones seem harsh and something else I can't find the word for. Not one of the new ones makes me think "ooh look at that, much better"; nope.

Fantastic thread - love it.

To get any where near the same perspective, you will need to go back and stand on the brick edge, on one foot, with an eye shut & with your camera being held out as far to the left as possible above the water.
