Though I think its great that the victorians have given us the gift of photography for us to reflect upon.

 

 

Love this next one.

 

This is Whitestone pond.

 

It is the highest man made pond in London (450 feet above sea level) & must have been a god send for the horses pulling the freight up from the Thames (6 miles away) and onwards out into the surrounding countryside.

 

Those days are long gone, but we occasionally get to see the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery coming up the hill and through the pond so the horses can refresh.
