Expose the conductors and bare a section of each by removing the insulation, follow the colour coding and twist the ends together, wrap in insulating tape - preferably self amalgamating.

 

Disguise as best possible and prepare an alibi!:thumbup::thumbup:

thanks guys should be able to sort it myself, there's nobody in the house either.

me just being careless and rushing on the plus side the rest of the job will be easier!

I wouldn't bother trying to repair it, it will need replacing.

If there isn't anyone in the house I wouldn't worry.

Don't jump to admission, when it comes to BT and trees they operate on a 'Reactive not Proactive' policy, call them up and tell them you had been called out to clear a fallen / snapped branch which has taken a line down, thats it. Don't try and fix it.

Eggs I wouldn't actually class myself as a Manc, I grew up in The Mid Wales borders/Herefordshire. Beautiful part of the planet.

 

Not far from me I live in Ewyas Harold didn't know you lived around that area.
