what's your favorite. boots for.climbing.

Chap i work with got the new arbortech boots, says they are really comfy. Had the older style ones before but stitching came out after only 6 months. Fair play, arbortech did replace them, eventually!. These have the spike grip in the bottom and wears spikes over the top. One bolt and you can take them off Joe. To be honest, it normaly come undone and lost within first couple of months.

Hi Couldyajust, if you use these, how do you get on with spikes/gaffs? Do you remove the built in spikes or put gaffs on as well?

I use carbon fibre geckos as well when dismantling or setting a line for a winch.

 

I bet the cambium loves it too. May as well just wear spikes.

They are easily removable if you wish to do so & as the built in spike are very short & in a fixed place on the boot you have to consciously dig them in if you are using them. It is very rare they get taken out while I am pruning with no bark damage.

Unless you use a haas regularly they would be almost over engineered for you. For climbing work the Werewolfs are very good. Light, comfy, with saw protection. Mine are my favourite walking boots as well as on decent climbs.

Pfanner zermatt here, although I love them, I find them so big compared to my old air streams, I fancy the stein.....forgot the name already, with no toecap for climbing in, although they don't look as rigid for spiking in

If you have decent spikes then they're flipping comfy with Geckos spiking is no different than with Airstreams.
