flaking a throwline?

probably a silly question but how do you do it?

also do you reccon is a syrup tin would be any good for keeping my line in? (im too tight to buy one of those fancy cubes:blushing:)

I'm not sure what flaking means!! Is that storing so is easy to throw and doesn't get tangled?

 

I reckon a baking tin is a good idea if that's the case.

unless you buy syrup by the gallon... i wouldnt stuff hundreds of feet of line into a tin and expect it to come out again smoothly and un-tangled...

Clip a crab on to the neck part of your t-shirt, pass the throwline through the crab, and then start pushing it hand over hand into the pot. hope that helps.

make a thing out of a bit of wood to wrap the line around = FREE. plank of wood, about 10 inches, then cut a V out of each end, then wrap the line on it. Peasy.

 

Throwing it just takes a little practice. Tie a knot in the line about a foot away from the end to grip on to with thumb and forefinger. For longer throws, thread an end thru the throwline metal and make a loop.

I bought an edelrid cheaper cube thingy.Flaking- jist feed the line into some sort of recepticle,bucket for example,making circles in the bottom with the throwline till you reach the end.Make sure there are no twigs in there before you throw,then when you throw if you've ''flaked'' it properly the throwbag should reach really high,if not you've got a knot it the recepticle(cube,bucket etc)Practice makes perfect.

I use boilie buckets cost about 6quid off the market, zipper top. Flake in line as already described. I would also throw the line over a high fork when new, let it hang for a while, then stretch it a bit, let it hang a while again, then flake, it will help it lose the memory of being tightly wound on a spool, thus eliminating kinking up.
