The early unit had a seperate earth wire whish was held under one of the units fixing screws, this was dropped on the later unit, it now earths through the coil laminates, the other wire is obviously the earth cut out wire to the switch, there should be no third wire?

Ok.. So i was right thinking it was an earth. Looking through many coils i had seen one specify "no rev limiter" So although didnt understand how revlimiter would work with regards the coils and more to the point why it would connect to the body.. however it made me have doubts as to whether i was right assuming it was an earth.
