Hiya!

I just registered for my waste carriers licence, registered successfully but there was no option to print a certificate? I have a operator's number, is that all they ask for when tipping?

When I got to the tip I just gave my name and address and all the details came up, including that I got fed up waiting for the confirmation email after the page had timed out, and had registered a 2nd time and now have 2 numbers.

I think there is a difference between "registered" and "licensed" too can anyone on here enlighten us?

Previously it was a licensing scenario, and indeed some WCL may still be valid (until 2016 I think), but tis an EA registration situation now, either 'lower tier' if just woodchip/green waste, or 'upper tier' if construction / demolition related stuff, i.e. landscape / fencing arisings.

See https://www.gov.uk/waste-carrier-or-broker-registration for further info.

Cheers..

Paul

PS Lower tier is free and takes 5mins to register. Upper tier is £154 (I think) and lasts for 3 years...and takes a little longer to register.

I registered recently, took few weeks to get cert through for upper tier. I occasionally do garden clearance, and come across varying rubbish in need of removal. Whilst I could have got away with lower tier and been free, sods law that id get pulled on garden clearance job.

When do you actually need it?

Who knows? The place where we dump is a fully licenced one but they said they didn't want the number as its no relevance to them. So I suppose I'll need it if I get pulled but not otherwise?
