Keeping your rings dry

That is very true. However, if the ring is split into smaller logs then it will help heat/air get in there and help drive moisture out of the ends. If you see what i mean. If you brought back some lenghts of wood- sved from chipper etc then you could make a very loose frame under the pond liners which would help airflow. I take it anything more solid would not be allowed at you yard(?) as a pole barn would be ideal, and you could make it from softwood poles and second hand roofsheets quite inexpensively.

Moisture has to travel along the grain to exit from the end grain.

So the ring can be 10ft across, if it is cut 8" deep it will dry just as quick as a ring measuring 1ft across and 8" deep

Why not stop being so ucking lazy and split em properly and let em dry:001_tongue:

I had 16 tonne of soft wood last year split half and left the rest in 2 meter lenghts stacked on top of each other, the split wood didn,t dry well but after 4 months the lenghts although wet on the ends were very dry in the middle, dry enough to burn any way.

You got something to dry down here last year!!!!! Thats a feat in itself mate:001_tongue:
