MS230 15-16" CARVER BAR"kit"

Recommended Posts

Afternoon all,

well my trusty ms230 has served me well for hedgelaying for x amount of years now, This season I got myself a ms150 12" bar, and for my work (im not a carver at all) hedgelaying found it brilliant with the small tip bar but for the bigger stuff still needed the 230 but after all these years found the tip massive after using the 150.

So the question carving bar 15-16" bar/sprocket/chain kit for my 230,

Who, what, where from, do they do them that length etc etc have seen 10,12,14" on ebay

Any other ground work Ill switch between switch bars

cheers and enjoy the rest of your Easter

If you expect to swap back to a regular bar often it may be simpler to get a quarter tip carving bar and run both set ups on lo pro off your original sprocket. You can get Oregon sculptor bars in longer lengths as well as GB bars. If you want to.buy the best you can get Cannon bars

If you don't mind swapping out the sprocket every time you want to change bars hen get a dime tip, 1/4 sprocket and 1/4 chain.

I find the narrow tip of a Stihl rollamatic mini bar (as fitted to MS170 etc) excellent for hedge laying and coppicing.

Carving bars usually have no nose sprocket and need to be run with a slack chain. I should imagine you will be constantly throwing off chains if using a carving bar for hedging.

You can buy the 1/4" rollamatic mini bar (as on your Ms150) in 14" which is another option.
